Governor Snyder Approves Hunting, Fishing And Trapping License Restructuring To Enhance Michigan’s Natural Resources
MUCC and 21 Other Conservation Groups Join Governor at License Bill Signing
LANSING—Today Governor Rick Snyder signed into law House Bill 4668, a bill which would implement a fairly substantial overhaul of the state's hunting, fishing and trapping license system. He was joined by representatives from Michigan United Conservation Clubs and twenty-one other hunting, fishing and trapping and conservation groups who are part of the Conservation Coalition, as well as hunter’s safety instructors, agricultural interests and a representative from the newly formed Natural Resources Commission’s Youth Conservation Council.
Michigan United Conservation Clubs’ Executive Director Erin McDonough said “The Snyder Administration listened to the concerns of Michigan sportsmen and women, resulting in a license package focused on our priorities and firmly entrenched in accountability and transparency. Hunters, anglers and trappers are the backbone of natural resource management in Michigan and we are proud to pay for the outdoors we love." “The Conservation Coalition is where conservation and hunting, fishing, and trapping interests can work together towards common goals and priority issues. The number of people in the room and the diversity of organizations is a testament to the fact that when we work together, progress is possible. We stand together, ready to take on any group that comes to Michigan and threatens our outdoor heritage,” said Amy Trotter, MUCC Resource Policy Manager. Joining in the ceremonial bill signing were representatives from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Natural Resources Commission, and the following organizations:
Ashley Sportsmen’s Club
Ducks Unlimited
Great Lakes Council, Federation of Fly Fishers
Hamilton Rod and Gun Club
